Join POLITICO’s Women Rule on Thursday Sept. 15, 2022 at The Madison Hotel, for conversations focused on creating and leading sustainable, healthy and inclusive communities.
Member Exchange and keynote programming will begin at 1:00 PM ET.Â
Following the program will be a reception with drinks and light hors d'oeuvres.Â
In a featured interview, POLITICO national political reporter Elena Schneider will speak with Jennifer Klein, director of the White House Gender Policy Council, which was founded in 2021 as the first policy council focused on gender equity to report directly to the president. The two will discuss how the GPC is tackling the most pressing issues facing women in their communities, from economic insecurity to health disparities to gender-based violence; how the Biden administration plans to push back on the Dobbs decision, as well as the political fallout; and her career working within communities to help develop policy for women.
Following this conversation, Elena Schneider will virtually interview Georgia gubernatorial candidate and voting rights advocate Stacey Abrams. The two will discuss everything from Abrams’ work to expand voting rights and mobilize communities, her political rise from the Georgia statehouse to the national stage,
what's at stake in the 2022 midterms, and the policy issues that are defining her campaign for governor, such as affordable housing, access to health care, and policing.
Our Member Exchange panel, featuring Women Rule: The Exchange Business and Impact leaders, will focus on boosting gender and racial health equity in our communities. Women are the primary health care decision-makers in their homes, and yet they are underserved by the health care system. Just 1 percent of health care research and development focuses on conditions specific to women. Implicit bias in the system means providers are less likely to listen to women when they complain of symptoms. Our Exchange members will discuss what governments, corporations, nonprofits and the medical community must do to improve outcomes for women.
